A NOTE ON PRODUCT & ORDER DELAYS

We are all living and operating in an uncertain world. COVID has changed the way we operate and it has changed the way stock is moved around the world.
OZ Design Furniture has experienced delays in the importation of goods from all around the world. We are not alone; this is a worldwide issue that affects all businesses. Below are the main reasons for the delays we have been experiencing:

  • A shortage of available containers due to increased demand has slowed the flow of goods into Australia. This is particularly problematic in Indonesia, India and Malaysia.
  • There is heavy congestion in overseas ports due to the massive volume of container movements. Trans-shipment ports such as Singapore are particularly congested and struggling to clear the backlog. We have had examples of containers sitting in limbo in Singapore for 2 months waiting for a voyage to Australia.
  • Supply of materials into factories is under immense stress due to increased worldwide sales of homewares and furniture. Recently, we have noted shortages on Australian timber, hardwoods and rattan along with supply of fabric and leather.
  • Another very recent contributor to imported goods delays is shortages of staff in our partner overseas factories. Many staff are slow to return, or simply don’t after TET and Chinese New Year holidays. Fears of COVID on public transport has not helped and now factories are running slow due to a simple lack of workers.

We will continue to keep you updated on the expected time of arrival of your goods as the information comes to hand. Yes, you may hear from us more than once with minor adjustments to your goods expected time of arrival. We would prefer to go the extra mile to keep you updated. You can rest assured we are putting in the extra effort to keep on top of the changes to container arrival dates and will continue to update you when required.
