A NOTE ON PRODUCT & ORDER DELAYS

We are living and operating in an uncertain world. COVID has changed the way we operate and it has changed the way stock is moved around the world

Recently, OZ Design Furniture has experienced delays in the importation of goods from all around the world. We are not alone; this is a worldwide issue that affects all businesses. Below are the main reasons for the delays we have been experiencing

  • A shortage of empty containers due to increased demand has slowed the flow of goods into Australia
  • There is heavy congestion in overseas ports due to the massive amount of container movements
  • Supply of materials into factories is under immense stress due to increased worldwide sales of homewares and furniture.
  • The biggest contributor to recent imported goods delays is due to the industrial action by the Maritime Union and its members on Australian docks. This has been ongoing for many months and even though has recently ceased, there is over 100,000 containers on Australian docks to clear. Shipping vessels have been reluctant to ship to Sydney for weeks now due to the backlog. Bookings are now being released which is great news, hence the adjustments to goods arrival dates.

We will continue to keep you updated on the ETA of your goods as the information comes to hand. Yes, you may hear from us more than once with minor adjustments to your goods ETA. We would prefer to go the extra mile to keep you updated.

You can rest assured we are putting in the extra effort to keep on top of the changes to container arrival dates and will continue to update you when required.

*** As of mid-January 2021, we are receiving reports of COVID case spikes in areas of China where some of our factory partners are. This had lead to workers leaving their hometowns for Chinese New Year weeks early, subsequently delaying containers that were to ship prior to Chinese New Year.
