Whether you enjoy soft feather-filled comfort or a more supportive upright feel, each sofa or armchair will need regular maintenance to keep its original plush shape. Always having your favourite comfy spot on the couch is exciting, however over time the foam will slowly break down in that one spot if not cared for properly.
With some simple steps taken weekly, you will be left with a perfect-looking sofa for years to come.
In addition to caring for your fabric or leather upholstery, it’s important to look after the foam filling inside your furniture. Proper foam care helps maintain comfort, shape, and support, ensuring your piece continues to look and feel great over time. Follow these simple tips to extend the life of your foam-filled furniture.
Plump seat and back cushions weekly to help maintain their shape and overall appearance.
Rotate and flip reversible seat and back cushions regularly - such as those in our Australian Made collection - to encourage even wear and support.
Occasionally open cushion covers and gently adjust the foam so it sits evenly and aligns neatly with the edges.
Steam and vacuum fabric upholstery regularly to help prevent deep creases or wrinkles from forming in the foam.
Don’t leave cushions compressed for long periods, as this can cause the foam to lose its shape over time.
Avoid sitting repeatedly in the same spot without rotating cushions, as this may lead to uneven wear.
Don’t neglect regular cleaning, as dirt and dust can contribute to fabric creasing and affect the foam underneath.
Avoid excessive heat or moisture when cleaning, as this may impact the foam’s performance and longevity.
Feather-filled cushions are designed to feel soft, luxurious, and inviting, but over time, they naturally shift and compress, creating dips or uneven spots. Regular care helps keep your cushions plump, comfortable, and evenly filled. It’s also normal for feather inserts to shed a little over time, which is a natural characteristic of feathers. Even with regular maintenance, cushions may gradually lose some fill, but gentle fluffing and rotating will help maintain their shape and plush feel.
Fluff your seat and back cushions regularly to restore shape and redistribute feathers.
Rotate and flip cushions often to prevent dips and uneven wear.
Gently adjust the inserts inside the covers to keep feathers evenly distributed.
Don’t leave cushions compressed for long periods, as this can cause permanent dips.
Avoid over-stuffing or forcing feathers into the corners of the cushion.
Don’t be concerned by small feather shedding, this is natural and expected.
