Sharing life with you since 1979.

We opened our doors in 1979, originally under the name of The Great Australian Design Company. In the 1980s the business was purchased by two brothers who renamed and rebranded the company. Today, trading as OZ Design and led by our long-term Managing Director, the business operates 40 furniture stores across the eastern seaboard of Australia along with our online store. 

We are an Australian family owned and operated business that takes care of our stakeholders. We have employees who have been with us for over 25 years and relationships with Australian manufacturers and suppliers that have lasted over 15 years who we continue to work with today. 

We’re family-run ourselves and understand the life that gets lived inside our homes. We’re here to transform your home into a space that fits you and create a space that will be there for you for life.


The Great Australian Design Company was founded.  


  • First franchise store was opened in Crows Nest, Sydney. Further expansion was made into Regional NSW, ACT and Melbourne.  
  • Two brothers (current family owners) purchased the business and rebranded to OZ Design Furniture.   


More franchised stores are opened, expanding into QLD.
Followed by a network of company stores in Gold Coast & Brisbane.


  • Managing director (One of the two brothers) sadly, unexpectedly passes away, leaving his brother to run the family business.  
  • OZ Design manufacturing is launched, supplying sofas to the group.




  • Second generation family members who have worked in the business for a few years now become board members and integral members of the business.
  • OZ Design commences the opening of a number of company owned stores. 



The team launched a fun and innovative marketing campaign.


OZ Design's logo evolves to include est.1979.




OZ Design celebrated 40 years in business.

The tagline 'Boundless living' was launched.


Store expansion within the group, opening an
average of three stores per year.


  • There are officially 40 stores in the group.  
  • Stage 2 of the state of the art warehouse is finished. 15,000sqm of warehouse holds our Support Office team, Clearance store, sample area and photography studio, along with thousands of furniture and homewares items that are in-stock and ready to deliver to our customers.
